The 2024/2025 UVA Basketball end of Season Commentary

Tanya Tillman

This basketball season began on a sour note when Bennett blindsided the program with his retirement. Unfortunately, the season ended as it did before it started.

In between, there were some upsides and downsides. They beat the teams they were supposed to beat and lost to the more prominent teams on their schedule.

For the first time since the 2009/2010 season, the Cavs managed to produce a disappointing season (15-17) which speaks volumes about Coach Bennett’s exceptional ability to provide winning teams year in and year out during his tenure.

With their regular season behind them they had a chance to redeem some credibility only to lose their lone appearance in the ACC Tournament.

Highly anticipated this off-season, is a complete revamping of the UVA basketball program starting with a new head coach with a proven record of success.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the coming weeks/months.

Looking forward to a new era of basketball at UVA.

Remaining optimistic: Go Hoos going forward.
