My Interest in Motorcycles

In 1978, there was a gas shortage and I did a lot of traveling and wanted to find a more economical way to travel. I did not have much money, so I saved and finally, I was able to  afford a brand new 1978 Honda Hawk, my 1st motorcycle.  It was the first automatic motorcycle and did not have much power, but it served its purpose.

Since 1978 I have owned several motorcycles, I have enjoyed each and every one of them. In 1980 I purchased a Honda 550. Then in 1981 I purchased the Honda 750 custom. I thought I had reached a high status because it was the most desired bike in those days.  The movie Easy Rider had made that motorcycle popular.  In 1986 I purchased the Yamaha Venture Royale. This was a super luxurious motorcycle. After purchasing this motorcycle, I didn’t purchase anything else for many years.

In 2002 I purchased my 1st Honda Goldwing, I called it Big Red. Then in 2003 I purchased a Harley Sportster. In 2006 I purchased the Harley Deluxe, which I customized and chromed out from front to back. Also in 2006 I purchased the Victory Jackpot, which was a great bike. It was very powerful and I truly enjoyed it. The following year in 2007, I took the Honda Goldwing that I had bought the previous year to Mr. Gladfelter in Pennsylvania and had him to convert it into a Trike. Also in 2007, I purchased the Harley Sports Low Rider.

I didn’t make another purchase until 2009, when I bought the BMW KT1600. This was not only my 1st BMW motorcycle, but it was Special Order. At the time I purchased it was very new, in fact it had just come on the market.

Then in 2011, I purchased my Hyosung Crotch Rocket. It was in my favorite color yellow. Fast bike!

In 2013, I sold my 2009 BMW KT1600 to purchase my BMW Trike. The BMW Trike was featured in Motorcycle Magazine as the 1st one on the East Coast. It was a very luxurious trike and most comfortable trike I had ever been on. Also in 2013, I also purchased the Yamaha Custom Raider. This was a collector’s bike. It was #42 out of 500 made worldwide.

2016 came and I purchased another Harley Deluxe. This one was the only one of it’s kind because it was painted in the Baltimore Ravens colors. I also customized this bike as well. Then in 2017 I purchased another Harley Trike.

During the year 2018, I purchased 2 motorcycles. The 1st was the Harley Breakout, it was fast, but had a rough ride. My 2nd was the Honda Gold Wind. This bike was fully automatic and came with all the bells and whistles.

The most recent purchase I have made is the 2021 Spider Deluxe. It is an eloquent three-wheeler.

During the journey of experiencing all these different types of motorcycles, I truly enjoyed them all at some point for various reasons. Some were entered into shows, some won prizes, but all were beautiful in their way.

I rode the “Tale of the Dragon” on the 2006 Jackpot.  I have been to the Carlisle Motorcycle Show, the Ocean City Bike Fest, the Herr’s Motorcycle Show, Gettysburg Bike Week, and many more.

I customized most of the Motorcycles myself, I have several Trophies for show wins with some of them.

I was the President and founder of a Motorcycle club called the ‘Camp Likeness Riders.’ We had our own colors.  Fifteen members rode together frequently all over the country.  Riding is a great way to relax.

The most significant danger of motorcycle riding is other people driving other vehicles.  I urge everyone to watch out for motorcycles and protect them.  I hope you enjoy the pictures I am sharing on this post!
